you cannot really see him, but this is a black jaguar at the San Diego zoo. He was vocalizing thusly and I thought it was neat. Internet sources suggest that bigger cats can purr, but only while exhaling, not continuously like domestic cats do. Some call this sound "chuffling". I think this is what he's doing.
